On November 1, 2016, Emergency Medical Care Inc. (EMC) assumed management of Telecare services (now TeleHealth) from McKesson Canada. This includes 811, Gambling Support Network (GSN) and Tobacco Free Nova Scotia (TFNS) for the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness and 811 for the Prince Edward Island Department of Health and Wellness.

811 Telecare

811 Telecare provides residents of Nova Scotia and PEI in non-emergency situations a standardized phone number to call and speak about their symptoms or illness with a registered nurse, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. (Nova Scotia residents can also call 1-866-770-7763).

Gambling Support Network (GSN)

The Gambling Support Network (GSN) is available via phone and live chat 24 hours a day, seven days a week. GSN offers brief phone interventions, crisis and on-going counselling and information on available resources across the province of Nova Scotia. All counselling services are provided by clinical therapists. To reach GSN, dial 1-888-347-8888.

Tobacco Free Nova Scotia (TFNS)

Tobacco Free Nova Scotia (TFNS) provides ongoing counselling, program referrals across the province of Nova Scotia, as well as helpful information for clients who are considering reducing or quitting the use of tobacco. To reach TFNS, dial 811 and ask to speak with a counsellor.
